Achievements
Among our achievements are:
- introducing the Design Award scheme to the borough;
- campaigning for the retention of Westbury Manor as the Borough Museum;
- publishing the town walks and notelets;
- managing The Gillies open space since 1987;
- organising the annual beach clean at Meon Shore, Hill Head;
- donating plaques, trees and shrubs to the borough, and financial donations towards small conservation projects;
- providing interpretation boards at The Gillies and Fareham Lake and, in conjunction with Hampshire County Council, along the Hamble River;
- creating a photographic record of all listed buildings in the borough for Jubilee Year;
- donating £500 towards refurbishment of High Street lamp posts;
- to mark The Society's 30th year a donation of £2400 was made to Fareham Borough Council for the purchase of the plane trees for the central avenue in the Market Quay car park. The event was recorded by a commemorative polished-granite plaque which can be seen at the entrance to the avenue.
