Summer visits 2008



NOTE: Attendance at any of these visits must have been BOOKED AND PAID FOR IN ADVANCE at the Annual General Meeting. The following list is a shortened version of the detail in the Summer Newsletter and is intended simply as a reminder.

Thu 22 May 2008 Crofton Old Church – St Edmunds Led by Gary Wilcocks, a Society member with a special interest in this historic church.
Meet at 6.45 p.m. at Lychgate Green, off Titchfield Road, Stubbington.
Tue 3 June 2008 Walk around Southwick Village Led by Madeleine Selby, a well-known local historian.
Meet at 7 p.m. in the village car park, next to the Golden Lion car park in Southwick.
Fri 13 June 2008 Cruise – Langstone Harbour and East Wight (wind & weather permitting!) Meet at 6 p.m. at Gosport Ferry Terminal ready for a prompt 6.15 p.m. departure, returning by about 10 p.m.
NOTE: You should have applied to Brian Barrett for this by post with s.a.e and your £9.50 before 10 May.
Wed 18 June 2008 Twyford waterworks Visit led by Dr Martin Gregory of this Edwardian pumping station.
Meet there at 7.15 p.m. after turning right in the centre of Twyford village and following the brown signs.
Thu 7 August 2008 Walk around historic Bishops Waltham Led by George Watts.
Meet at 7 p.m. in the main car park in the centre of Bishops Waltham.

The first autumn meeting for 2008 will take place on Thursday, 18th September at the United Reformed Church, Osborn Road South, Fareham, starting at 7.30 p.m.
   Parking is available in the public car parks nearby (no charge after 6 p.m.). Please do not park in the church car park as the restricted space here needs to be reserved for speakers, committee members and the disabled.
